This is the Lord's Day

Christus Rex in the Chapel of Our Saviour
at Honey Creek
at daylight today, August 26, 2007

This is the Lord's day,
day of God's own making,
day of creation, day of resurrection,
day of the Spirit,
sign of heaven's banquet,
day for rejoicing.
-- John E. Bowers (b. 1923)
from The Hymnal 1982, No. 51, verse 3

What follows is the progression of the sun today from dawn to its full rising. Enjoy!

Linda,

Thank You for taking the time & trouble to capture God's Beauty in Creation for us! I have always found it disturbing when churches spend time indoors praising the Creator and the Divine Creation from books, in hymn, prayer and ritual and at the same time are somehow disconnected from it all by the church walls.

I've always felt the Hymn of the Three Children (Ananias, Azarias, Misael, aka Misach, Shedrach & Abednago) should be performed outdoors. In fact, any worship performed outdoors would seem to connect us better to the Creator by fuller experience of Creation.

How blessed Our Savior, Honey Creek, is to have a church with a beautiful view to the outside. While churches w/o an outside view can add to the feeling of 'enclosed holy space', I feel they also divorce worship from the Creation for which we daily thank and worship the Creator.
